Stephen Colbert interviews Wisconsin 'fugitive' Democrat Jon Erpenbach (Video)

Last night Stephen Colbert provided more hilarity with his interview of Wisconsin State Senator Jon Erpenbach (D).  Erpenbach is one the now famous, or infamous depending on one’s viewpoint, Democratic state senators who have left the state of Wisconsin in order to stop an anti-union bill from advancing.  All 14 Democrats prevent the necessary quorum for any vote under the Wisconsin Constitution.  By staying in Illinois the Democrat are outside of the reach of Gov. Scott Walker’s law enforcement personnel.  As usual, Colbert’s played the part of an ultra-conservative going on the attack against the Democrat.  The full video of the interview can be seen to the left.  A summary appears below.

Colbert began by making of fun of Megyn Kelly from Fox News, who covered the “breaking news” of one Wisconsin state trooper knocking on the door of one of the 14 Wisconsin Democrats.  Colbert then finds a Wisconsin Democrat by using his patented “Democrat call” which featured chants of “NPR, NPR” and “legalize pot, legalize pot.”

Colbert begins the interview by asking where Erpenbach is located.  Erprenbach freely admits that he is in Chicago.  Colbert makes him take that back because the interview is “more interesting” if his is in an “undisclosed location.”  After Erpenbach agrees to Colbert’s request, Colbert proceeds to use a “green screen” behind Erpenbach to make it appear as though he is in a strip club.

Moving to the more serious side of the interview, Erpenbach justifies his departure by saying he is standing up for the rights of workers in his state.  Erpenbach also claims that the Walker introduced the bill at the last minute with very little time for negotiation or debate.

During the rest of the interview Colbert continues to press Erpenbach on his arguments.  During that time the “green screen” continues to be used to put Erpenbach in chicken hen, and later in “20 million B.C.” surrounded by dinosaurs.  Finally, at the end Colbert tricks Erpenbach by using the “green screen” to put him back in the Wisconsin State Senate.

"I’m proud to be here with people who understand that it’s more than just sending an email to get you going," Capuano said, according to the Dorchester Reporter. "Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary."

As a taxpayer in the 27th District of Wisconsin, I see no humor in an irresponsible state senator appearing on a comedy show while our state is facing severe budget problems. Erpenbach is a freaking idiot.

Yawn, no, I think that was the same Megyn Kelly who totally destroyed the head of the Milwaukee Teachers Union. Unfortunately, I now know why most of their students cannot even read proficiently.
