Stephen Amell has excited anxious fans by posting a video to his Facebook page stating he had a meeting for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film. The video posted on March 21 by Just Jared is the first public admission that the casting process has begun. Amell clearly stated he was discussing the role of Christian Grey yet does not state who he had a meeting with or when it took place.
“I get questions about Christian Grey all the time. That project is a long way off. I know this, because I had a meeting about it. Long way off. I mean, not that long, but not close. I wouldn’t call it long, but I wouldn’t call it close."
The time frame mentioned is not exactly clear and concise but fans should be happy to hear that there are casting details being worked out behind the scenes. Author E L James is currently in Los Angeles and there are hopes that a director will be announced during her visit. According to the chairman of Universal "Fifty Shades of Grey" is on the track to be released in Summer 2014.
Stephen Amell, 31, also posted a video where he rambled about possible plans during his "Arrow" hiatus. Along with relaxing and a visit to wine country, he would like to shoot a movie and he has something "in the works." Could "Fifty Shades of Grey" be his project in the works? Fans have mixed reviews over the possible casting. One commenter said, "terrible Christian! And he doesn’t even have a sexy voice to swoon over" while another was more open saying, "he wouldn’t be my first choice as Christian but I think he would be great."
