Steorn plans Orbo free energy demo in 2009

Having solved a problem with bearings, coming up with a magnetic bearing system that can handle the stresses that would destroy regular bearings, Steorn is nearing readiness to give a public display of various Orbo systems via a live video-stream from location.

The Irish company, Steorn, is gearing up for another public demonstration attempt of their revolutionary Orbo "free energy" technology -- by the end of 2009.

This past Tuesday, FreeEnergyTimes conducted an email interview with Steorn CEO, Sean McCarthy, providing an update to their progress and intentions.  McCarthy said "The demonstration will involve a public display of various Orbo systems, there will be a live video-stream from the location that people can watch via our website."  The primary purpose of the demonstrations will be to attract the interest of individuals and companies who want to develop Orbo-powered products.

Steorn grabbed world headlines in Aug. 2006 announcing that they threw down the gauntlet to the worldwide scientific community, inviting them to come on a jury to test their  technology and announce their findings.  (Ref.)  Then a year later, on the auspicious day of July 4, 2007, they ran a widely publicized demo of their free energy prototype at the Kinetica Museum in London, promised to be streamed live around the world; but unfortunately, the device did not work.  (Ref.)  On June 21 of this year, the Jury selected in 2006 to review the Steorn technology issued the verdict reached by the end of 2008.  They concluded that the technology does not result in energy gain.  (Ref.)

Meanwhile, Steorn has persisted, optimistic that they will have a demonstration model ready by the end of 2009.  On Feb. 4, 2009, they began soliciting teams of engineers and commercial interests to become part of a developer group who will take a working principle and build embodiments which can then be implemented through license. (Ref.)  Rather rather than try and engineer all the various applications and scale to all the various sizes, Steorn's business model is to license the core concept out, inexpensively, and allow others to pursue that.

Responding to a question about a key technical problem that has been resolved, McCarthy wrote:

"One of the key problems that we have always faced in implementing Orbo are bearings. The reason is that a typical Orbo interaction involves very strong radial forces that change direction in very small angular displacements. Hence an Orbo system built using traditional bearings is like driving you car at high speed over speed bumps – you can do it, but after a small distance you car will simply break down. The key technical advance that we have made with respect to implementation is a move away from the use of traditional bearing technologies to the use of our own passive magnetic bearing technology, ZeroF."

McCarthy also wrote that the "power output is scalable. There are no theoretical limits to the power output that can be produced, however there will be a significant amount of engineering work."

When I first interviewed Sean back in Aug. 2006, he said that their technology was an all-magnet motor, in which rotation is achieved via magnets repelling or attracting magnets, with no other input energy required.  However, more recently I understand that some electrical components have been introduced -- at least in some of the research and development being conducted by the group.  Nevertheless, McCarthy says: "Every single part of an Orbo interaction can be explained using classical physics, except the net result."

Steorn’s web site states that "every aspect of society from finance, economics and business to education, science and politics will have to adjust to the new opportunities being created by Orbo technology".  McCarthy added that this will be largely because no grid connection will be required with the Orbo.

McCarthy said that "low-cost" licenses will be made available to product developers.

Nice try but no cigar.Internal combustion engines have the very
same situation yet they last up to 15000 hours of use.Very simply

Steorn has been nothing but a series of publicity stunts embellished with bold lies. In 2006 Steorn when announced their story they did not have magnetic bearings. Just the same they said they had proven their devices to numerous engineers and scientists without fail. Over the next three years they did not successfully demonstrate their claim even once to the jury they insisted they needed.

When Steorn announced they were continuing with a product launch of a product less technology, they explained that the jury disbanded in 2008, while Steorn fixed their Carl Tilley special bearings in the spring of 2009. The jury's chair Dr. MacDonald later stated that the jury evaluated information and demonstrations from Steorn until June 2009.

Steorn makes Mylow look good. At least he gave a demo.

Yah shoore. And the session will be entitled "Son of Kinetica". For those not familiar, Steorn said exactly the same thing in July of 2007! A fairly complete calendar of prior failures is available on their own web site under "news". This weird editor system won't let me include a link.

It seems as though their technology is real. Just as Mr. McCarthy himself!

Steorn will have to demo a spinny thing that runs without a cord plugged in, and turns a wheel, even one made of balsa wood, that scoops up a ping-pong ball, and deposits it at the top of a slide, where it falls or floats down to be picked up again.

If they don't do that, they will meet my expectations and I will look forward to and take part in the deluge of ridicule that will follow.

If they do do that, I will be astounded, and may even email McCarthy to apologize for the names I have called him.

You debunkers will stoop to any low to try and peddle your nonsense. Steorn do indeed have an overunity technology. It's called Orbo and will be launching this year.

There will be a live-web streaming demo of some devices in operation and the Steorn Knowledge Development Base will be opened up to anyone who wants to build systems themselves later in the year.

Kinetica was a genuine problem with the extreme radial forces that the bearings undergo in these systems. Steorn have resolved these issues with their new ZeroF bearings, so a proper demo will go ahead.

    Eat that debunkers!!!

PS The previous comment pretending to be me was another one of the sad muppets from the Steorn forum who can't handle the truth.

  • Bing 2 years ago

If you examine Steorn's approach and are privy to the information in the knowledge base you will see that they have chosen a model that takes the technology into the developers hands. For the layperson, that means, learn how to build it, and build it for yourselves, don't take their word for it! That's been the approach since the beginning, and now that Steorn and the developers are in the final stages, I warn that those who would rather stink up the matter with rude and obsessive comments about how unreal it is, just remember that your comments are forever engraved in this Internet ether and will haunt you the rest of your life. Steorn will not be the laughing stock, you will be, and I will be changing the world for the better. Bing!

LOL not another problem with the bearings excuse. Are you kidding me? Steron is trying to pull another Tilley scam on us. Didnt Sean McCarthy know Tilley already tried that same excuse with his scam? McCarthy needs to come up with a different excuse because the bearing excuse has already been used.

  • joshs 2 years ago

Steorn have long copied techniques used by other free energy frauds and fools. They borrowed the bearing excuse from Tilley's repertoire. The Orbo device above is borrowed from the unworkable free energy Minato wheel of a decade earlier.

Steorn's latest move to seal in the members of their credulous cult was to ban a host of skeptics from their forum.

  • maryyugo 2 years ago

As the previous poster noted, Steorn has now banned a whole bunch of critics from posting on their supposedly open forum. So when they described their forum like this:

"The Forum is intended for the open, unregulated exchange of ideas, thoughts and opinions about Steorn and Orbo. There may be threads concerning pseudo-science and suppositions on conspiracies and deceptions relating to the company."

    Steorn was again lying.

They seem to be doing like the forums for those criminal crooks who pretend to be psychic and to talk to the dead in order to extort millions of dollars from grieving people -- stifling dissent.

    ++++++++

And a damn good thing too. Why should Steorn put up with a lot of ill-mannered people lowering the tone of their forum?

I hope you are practicing jumping out of a cake.

  • joshs 2 years ago

Couldbe if you still hold out any hope of Steorn having a free energy technology such as they have ever claimed, you have already jumped off the proverbial cliff. New Year's will come and go without Mary needing to worry about any frosting stains.

While you think sweet dreams of a Christmas that will never come, you might wonder why people such as Steorn project manager Seamus Flanagan are shopping their resumes looking for different work.

Steorn's forum was nearly dead before the recent skeptic bannings. Steorn have simply further zombified it.

  • Couldbe 2 years ago

Seamus Flanagan is not the one looking for work, it is Seamus Galvin. see:

CouldBe Seamus Flanagan popped up on a resume site several months ago. It was not Linked In.

If the Steorn bearings handle a lot of strong forces, thoose forces would represent a lot of energy losses. Orbo has never worked and never will work. How can the investor accept the behavour of Steorn? The investors should demand to get their money back. Or mayby the investors know that Steorn is a big fraud, but the investors are making money by doing som tax trickery ? Tax authorities should investigate all the investors.

  • Zach 2 years ago

Steorn better pull through this time. That would be hilarious if they busted out a working Orbo and the world was all shocked. I hope Steorn is legit. Why would bother with all the hype if they didn't have something up their sleeve. I bet they're just getting shut-down by the man, but they can't stop this technology for much longer if it's easily replicable. Scientists and Physicists are going to look like morons when little 3rd world villages are building these free energy devices with radio shack parts.

  • trevor 2 years ago

Alright well after reading all these simplistic yet harsh phrases towards this company can we not at least give them credit for trying???? I mean, really? Let's say they did come up with something, or didn't...

What have you come up with lately? Have you got something that can be relicated and proven working????

No.. Then stop with all the nay saying. Imagine a world back in 1923, England when John Logie Baird came up with the first working television. Since then the television went from thought and ridicule, to classic black and white, to color, to wide screen, flat screen, liquid, now to HD 1080 Pixal.

My point is where are we getting if EVERYONE bitches and complains for an alternative solution but doesn't do anything but complain. Human beings are naturally lazy and you've all proven that. Do me a favor, ask for the magnetic motor at Area 51 if you can get close enough. They may have use for retarded people.

    oh wait

I can't believe it, that dude should be in jail. It's clearly a scam.

  • false flag 2 years ago

Orrr.......Maybe Steorn is just a patsy for the global power players that want us to think Free Energy is impossible. With the amount of subterfuge going on today, you have to think one step ahead...God knows they are. Do we really think they're going to let market ready free energy happen?

There's nothing like a well publicized failure to close people's minds and make investors run!
