The Stellar Gospel Music Awards is credited with being the first and only nationally televised awards show honoring African American gospel music artist. On Saturday, October 29, 2011, nominees for the 2012 Stellar Gospel Music Awards were announced during a live telecast from Nashville (Tennessee).
The live announcement show was led by the evening’s hosts, Christian comic Akintunde and gospel artists Trin-i-tee 5:7. They were joined by Isaac Carree, William McDowell and Y’anna Crawley, who delivered soul stirring performances which brought audience members to their feet.
During the telecast, nominations were revealed in twenty-nine categories, including: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, CD of the Year, Producer of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Rap Hip Hop Gospel CD of the Year, and Children’s Project of the Year, to name a few.
The 27th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards Show will be hosted by gospel legends Dorinda Clark Cole and Marvin Sapp. The show will be taped before a live audience on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Grand Ole Opry House.
The event will be open to the public and tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster. Prices range from $55 - $200, with the exception of student tickets which can be purchased for $35. The telecast is scheduled to air in national syndication from January 21, 2012 to February 26, 2012 on the Gospel Music Channel.
