Steen Miles, a former state senator, announced in Stone Mountain, GA, on August 28, 1913, that she is a Democrat candidate for the U.S. Senate. Her web site says she will, “vehemently oppose any and all attempts to repeal so-called Obamacare.” She says ObamaCare is a, “free market solution to the millions of uninsured in this country.” She is wrong on two counts.
ObamaCare is not a free market solution. It is corporate socialized medicine where employers own the health insurance policies and insurance companies control the choices. Free market medical care is where Individuals would own their own catastrophic medical insurance policies and pay for most of their care out-of-pocket.
ObamaCare has not lived up to its promise of giving, “uninsured Americans a chance to choose an affordable health care plan in a competitive market.” Some are predicting that there will be even more uninsured under ObamaCare.
A true progressive would advocate for a single payer health care rather than the corporate cronyism of ObamaCare because it would cover “the millions of uninsured in this country.” Of course, since Miles supports a “free market system,” she could not support a single payer system.
