Steelers playoff scenarios for 2013 just got interesting. 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers playoff scenarios in the AFC went exactly as fans of the team wanted in the early games from Sunday morning (Dec. 29). By beating the Cleveland Browns, the team moved to 8-8 and stayed alive in the race to the 2014 AFC Playoffs. Three other games directly impacted the outlook for the team, though, with one still left to play later on Sunday.
In order to move up into the No. 6 slot and the second wild card spot in the AFC, the team needed the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and San Diego Chargers to all lose. Well the New York Jets just beat the Dolphins and the Cincinnati Bengals are about to finish off the Ravens. That just leaves the Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs at 4:25 p.m. ET. If the Chiefs can pull off a win in that game, it will create a four-way tie for the teams.
If all four teams have identical 8-8 records, then the 2013 Pittsburgh Steelers playoff scenarios put the team into the postseason. By the Chiefs beating the Chargers, Ben Roethlisberger will have his team back in the postseason with a shot to go to the 2014 Super Bowl. A lot is now riding on that Chargers vs. Chiefs game, with fans of many different franchises interested about what might take place.
Either the Steelers or Chargers will be the No. 6 seed and they will likely face the Cincinnati Bengals in the wild card round of the postseason.
