The Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for severe weather across a small part of West Michigan for today and tonight. Damaging wind is the primary threat but large hail and a few isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out. Frequent lightning and heavy downpours are also possible. Behind the front, dry conditions return for the rest of the week.
Review these safety tips before the storms arrive:
Thunderstorm and lightning safety rules
Flash flood/flood safety rules

Temperatures today will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s inland with cooler readings as the lakeshore. Dewpoint temperatures remain in the steamy 60s. After the cold front finally passes by a cooler and drier air mass returns for the rest of the week. If the temperature in Grand Rapids reaches 90° it will be the first time this year.

See the attached slideshow for more on the heat and storms.
