DragonCon is getting closer! Just four weeks until September 2 Atlanta once again becomes the wonderland of fantasy and science fiction that lets us party in 5 hotels with over 30,000 of our closest friends!
For the Steampunk crowd, DragonCon has a lot to offer. From the marvelous wares on sale in the Dealers' Room, the Art Room and the Exhibit Halls to the music to the fabulous costumes everywhere to the guests in the Alternate History and other tracks, there is enough to keep your eyes and ears open and your heart jumping 24 hours a day from September 2 to the 5th!
For this article, let's just focus on some of the musical, literary, and media guests to delight the steampunk-oriented mind.
In music, we have the wildly popular Abney Park and Frenchie and the Punk, along with Celtic Folk favorite Marc Gunn, Pandora Celtica and perennial DragonCon favorite Voltaire for starters.
Literary guests who will appeal to the steampunk and alternate history crowd include Jana Oliver, author of the excellent Time Rovers series, as well as the apocolypic Atlanta-based Demon Trapper's Daughter; A.C. Crispen, whose latest is a Pirates of the Carribean prequel; Diana Galbalton, author of the Outlander series, and a host of others.
In media, a sampling of guests include Chritopher Lloyd, whose Doc of "Back to the Future" is iconic, and Lea Thompson,who played Marty McFly's mother, and Matthew Silva of Penny Dreadful Productions, who is currently doing makeup and FX for The Walking Dead.
And let's not forget the Time Traveler's Ball!
With all the panels, performances, parties, contests, and shopping, every steampunk fan is going to find something to fill every waking hour for the entire extended Labor Day weekend at DragonCon in Atlanta!
