The 3rd Annual Steamboat Stinger Mountain Bike Race and marathon and half marathon trail races, presented by Honey Stinger, returns with a bigger field for two days of challenging backcountry racing along the finest single track in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The mountain bike race is on Saturday, August 17, and the marathon and half marathon trail races will be on Sunday, August 18, 2013. The Steamboat Stinger kicks off the beginning of Bike Week in Steamboat that runs from August 17-24, 2013.
The mountain biking course is a 50-mile solo and duo mountain bike race with a lot of single track. The course begins at the Howelson Hill Ski Area right in the heart of Steamboat. Bikers will take an extended detour deep into the gorgeous backcountry of Routt County before returning to the transition/finish area. The solo race will consist of two 25-mile loops – 100% on dirt featuring 90% single track. Those competing in the duo race will have each participant doing one of the 25-mile loops.
The Trail Marathon course consists of one lap of the mountain bike course while the half marathon runners will not go off the backside which would be the Ridge and Beall Trails.
The Steamboat Stinger is just the beginning of Bike Week for Steamboat Springs. Other events going on include the Enduro-X Race Series, the Moots Cycles Rides, Ski Haus 5Point Film Bike-in-Movie, the Emerald Mountain Epic Ride, and other great activities to get out and enjoy.
Get involved with Bike Week in Steamboat, and cheer on the bikers and runners in the Steamboat Stinger this Saturday and Sunday. It’s going to be a fantastic Bike Week!
