Steam's most recent sale lets players take on the role of Sherlock Holmes

Steam wants fans of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes to enter into the fictional realm of Sherlock Homes. Focus Home Interactive and Frogware Studios have allowed fans of Doyle’s work to pit the wits of the famous detective against Jack the Ripper, Sherlock Homes, and a popular French literary thief.

Steam offers a 75% discount on the software through Friday, January 10. Like the titles that come after The Awakened, the game allows the user to choose from a first or third person perspective. Frogware’s first attempts that only allowed first person control resulted in a condition known as simulator sickness.

Testament seems to loosely follow the plot of the ReichenbachFalls story, but the trailer makes no mention of Holmes’s arch-nemesis, Professor Moriarty. It does not name anyone specifically. Instead, it asks viewers to consider that the greatest mind in the world might also be the most dangerous.

Fans can return to familiar scenes in Victorian London, including 221B Baker Street. Other fan favorites, such as Holmes’s pipe, Holmes’s violin, and Holmes’s never-worn deerstalker hat return in this Sherlock Holmes adventure.
