The latest beta version of the Steam desktop client just received an update with features several gamers have been waiting for since the online distribution service's conception. Yesterday, the Steam beta client was updated with not only a visual overhaul, but the ability to now hide games from your library.

If you're at all like me, you likely have a copy of Secret of the Magic Crystals sitting in your Steam library - forever taunting you of that time you went insane during the a Steam Summer or Winter Sale and thought to yourself, "Hey, it's cheap enough. I can't afford to not buy it!" Secret of the Magic Crystals is just one game in the pile of shame we must face every time we search for the latest batch of games we had recently bought, but quickly forgotten.

Well, that struggle is finally over. Once you've updated your beta client, follow the following steps to hide unwanted games from your Steam library.

  • Right-click the game's name from the library listing.
  • Select Set Categories.
  • Check "Hide this game from my library."

And that's it! If you ever do decide you want to play Secret of the Magic Crystals, follow the below steps to unhide the hidden game.

  • Click on the Installed drop-down menu.
  • Select Hidden.
  • Select Set Categories.
  • Uncheck "Hide this game from my library."

If you're not a part of the Steam client beta and wish to acquire this wonderful new feature before it's officially implemented in a future build, follow the below steps.

  • Select Steam button located in the top left of the menubar.
  • Select Settings.
  • On the Account tab of the Settings page, click Change under Beta participation.
  • Select the Steam Beta Update from the drop-down menu.
  • Click ok.
  • Restart Steam.

Congratulations, you're now enrolled in the Steam Beta! You will receive beta updates until the current beta period is over, but you can always reenroll for future beta builds of the Steam client.
