Back in January, Valve officially announced that they were working on a new platform that many referred to as the Steam Box, which would be presented as a gaming platform to compete with the Xbox 720 and PS4. As details surrounding the Steam Box have been scarce since the initial announcement of this product, a report by Forbes yesterday reveals that Valve is racing against the clock to beat the Xbox 720 and PS4 to market.
Referring to the internal developments on this platform, Gabe Newell says that they are “working with partners to nail down exactly how fast we can make it.” With the Xbox 720 and PS4 is expected to see a launch date by the holiday season of 2013, it seems that gamers will most likely be seeing the launch of the Steam Box around this time frame, or prior to.
Currently, not much information has delivered on the structure of this device, as Valve is continuing to keep major details surrounding this device secret. If the Steam Box intends to beat the Xbox 720 and PS4 to market, fans can be assured that Valve will be releasing more information about this platform in the near future.
