One might think that there were no bargain deals to be had in a restaurant located in the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort Spa and Marina. Certainly, the name itself conveys a sense of luxury and folks who don't have to look at prices. But, you'd be wrong. Cambridge, Maryland's Water's Edge Grill does the Eastern Shore in a modern, sophisticated way and has good value, too.
They've won such awards in the last couple of years as "Taste of Cambridge: 1st Place Judge's Choice Crab Cake," as well as other crab dish awards. They use local crab, which is plentiful in the area.
Ask to be seated in the covered porch area, looking out onto the water. It makes your meal more serene. The other part of the restaurant does have an open kitchen, though.
I recently ate there for lunch and had the conundrum of I was quite hungry, but not looking to spend a bundle. On the small plates side of the menu, I ordered the Crab Alfredo Fettuccini with lump crab meat, Parmesan cheese, basil, goat cheese and fettuccini noodles. A generous portion served in a cast iron skillet was only $10! Friends, that's exceptional for resort restaurants. It had lots and lots of local crab, was rich and cheesy. I ended up taking some home, too!
Many restaurants don't serve a bread course at lunch, but Water's Edge Grill does. They had hot out of the oven breads with sesame seeds and olives, crunchy and light.
