The only way to meet new people is to go to new places. Finding hobbies is not only great for recreation, but to meet a person with similar interests as yours is the recipe for a solid relationship.
Take yourself to dinner, go to a matinee, spend time getting to know who you are. You might find that you have tons of fun when you're alone. Besides, how are you going to impress another person if you don't what you can offer them?
