by Michelle Carr Crowe, Silicon Valley guide and San Jose real estae agent

The Santa Clara County Parks Department is celebrating their 50 year anniversary with a big bash this Sat., June 22 from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Hellyer Park in San Jose, Calif.

Silicon Valley residents seeking a free, fun and healthy way to kick off the summer are invited to the "Stayin' Alive" Festival in the Park this Sat., June 22, 2013.

Festivities include free live entertainment, jump houses, cool outdoor sports experiences, and complimentary CPR Anytime Kits (while supplies last).

The free event is sponsored by Santa Clara County Parks as a way to encourage Silicon Valley residents from Palo Alto to Saratoga to Morgan Hill to live heart healthy and enjoy the multitude of outdoor experiences available in the 45,000 acres of Santa Clara County's "big back yard".

Participants can try kayaking or stand up paddle boarding on the lake. Bicycles are available to use on the Olympic-size velodrome.

Exhibitors booths and heart-healthy education will be available from the American Heart Association, Kaiser Permanente and more.

For extra fun (free while supplies last) are raffle prizes, juice bars and reusable water bottles.

Hellyer Park is located at 985 Hellyer Avenue in San Jose. Additional parking is available at nearby Family Life Christian Center, 801 Hellyer Avenue.
