Nothing tastes better than a warm bowl of soup on a cold winter's day. This January, warm the body and soul with special "soup" programs from Cleveland Metroparks.

Soup Hike Saturday January 21

Garfield Park Nature Center

Garfield Parks Reservation

Join a naturalist for a 2.4-mile winter walk through Garfield Park Reservation to see beautiful Mill Creek Falls. At the end, enjoy a hearty bowl of soup around the fireplace at the nature center in a souvenir mug. Registration and a fee ($10 with mug, $7 bring own mug) are required. Garfield Park Nature Center is located off Mill Creek Lane, off the Broadway Avenue entrance of Garfield Park Reservation in Garfield Heights. Call 216-341-3152 to register and for more information.

CanalWay Center

Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation

Join staff at CanalWay Center for a 3-mile hike south along the Towpath Trail to the Sewer District facility and back. Homemade soup will be waiting upon return to the center. All participants will receive a souvenir mug to take home. Bring the mug back to future hikes for a discount. Registration and $15 fee are required. CanalWay Center is located on Whittlesey Way, off the East 49th Street entrance of Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation, between Grant Avenue and Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights. Let's be creative and mix lots of ingredients to make a delicious soup. Meet at Lagoon Picnic Area and hike to Rocky River Nature Center where participants will enjoy delicious soup before returning to the picnic area by a different route. Participants must bring their own soup bowl, mug and spoon. Registration and a fee ($5 adults, $3 children, ages 3 to 12, and children under 3 are free) are required. Lagoon Picnic Area is located off Valley Parkway in Rocky River Reservation, between Cedar Point Road and Spafford Road in Brookpark. Call 440-734-6660 to register and for more information.
