It’s official. The who's who in marketing are all traveling to San Diego this May – and although it will most likely be 72 and sunny – I can tell you they aren’t coming to our beautiful city for the weather. Well… at least not entirely.

On May 15-16, San Diego will play host to the famed Interactive Day San Diego (#IDSD), and the lineup of speakers is worthy of a red carpet affair. If you know marketing, then you know you’d be in good company with David Shing, Rand Fishkin and Mari Smith taking the stage. Those three names alone are worth the price of admission, but that’s just the beginning.

If you need more convincing click here to check out the entire lineup of amazing speakers.

And be sure to follow the keynote speaker lineup as well:

  • Aaron Shapiro CEO of HUGE (@amshap)
  • Dennis Yu Chief Architect of BlitzMetrics (@dennisyu)
  • Kevin Swanepoel, President of "The One Club" (@zinkwazi)
  • David Shing AOL's Digital Prophet (@shingy)

David Shing, AOL’s Digital Prophet will be discussing a wide range of topics revolving around digital trends, big data and analytics. If you are looking for even more in-depth tactical sessions with tips tricks and suggestions there are also a number of one-off sessions covering everything from email marketing and retargeting to content marketing trends.

Of course that’s all standard right? But what makes Interactive Day unique is that they are tapping into the “Shark Tank” lover in each of us.

For those who seek the excitement of discovery and innovation, let me introduce you to PitchTech. An open forum in which founders and entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to “pitch” their digital/interactive startups on the industry’s grandest stage. And don’t let me forget to mention that if this has you wondering how YOU can submit your pitch in this rare moment, YOU can! Registration is still open and grants you full access to the pre-conference mixer, lunch and of course the competition.

Education with Certifications:

On a final note it’s worth mentioning that this conference will not just leave you walking away with a lot of ideas and inspiration. At this year’s Interactive Day you can show your new found marketing klout with an IDSD certification!

The educational aspect of IDSD is one of my favorite ways IDSD stands out from the rest of the online marketing conferences. Let’s face it, the digital marketing landscape is ever-changing and it is of the utmost importance to stay on top of this game. So if the academic side of you is seeking to enhance your digital marketing credentials, keep in mind that at the forefront of IDSD is a wealth of industry knowledge - from some of which you can actually obtain certifications. A variety of sessions are available for specific sessions in specialized categories such as:

  • Data & Analytics
  • Marketing & SEO
  • Design & Development
  • Content & Social Media
  • Technology

Attend, pass the proficiency test, and get certified!

Where & When?

I can’t help but tempt you a tad further in stating that the conference is being held on the water at the Hilton Bayfront San Diego. As this is my backyard I really can’t think of a better locale for a conference. A little mixture of sunshine, networking, talking shop and learning from industry experts makes for an ideal getaway...maybe even tack on a few extra days here in sunny San Diego if you are from out of town.

But remember, time is of the essence. If you’re thinking of attending. #IDSD will be held on May 16th with what is certain to be a very “happy hour” on the 15th the night before. For details visit their website at: http://interactiveday.com
