Activists vow a daily Capitol presence.
MADISON: A statewide "Day of Prayer for Compassion" was announced Thursday by Gary Storck, president of Wisconsin NORML and director of communications of Is My Medicine Legal YET? (IMMLY).
The Day of Prayer for Compassion is scheduled for Tuesday March 23. The popular Facebook page, Wisconsino Residents for Assembly Bill 554 noted the following on an event page for the Day of Prayer:
With the JRMMA now needing the support of a majority of state legislators to become reality, it seems appropriate to call a Statewide Day of Prayer for Compassion and ask state residents, who are far ahead of their elected representatives in supporting the JRMMA, to pray for passage of this bill. -- Wisconsin Statewide Day of Prayer for Compassion http://bit.ly/aNTgq9
The Day of Prayer for Compassion is just one of many steps being taken to rally Wisconsin medical cannabis supporters to take action now to help pass the Jacki Rickert Medical Marijuana Act.

JRMMA supporters in Capitol Rotunda
Another new initiative, part of a diverse and growing set of efforts dubbed Operation Floodgates by supporters, begins Monday March 8 at the Wisconsin State Capitol in Madison, will be a daily presence by JRMMA supporters. Advocates are urged to join other supportters at the Capitol during weekdays from 8am-6pm and weekends from 8am-4pm, even if it just for a few minutes to hold a sign. Supporters believe a daily presence as the session winds down will keep the issue front and center for state lawmakers, many of whom would prefer not to have to deal with it despite the overwhelming public support as well as the magnitude of the need for alternatives to toxic and addictive prescription drugs..
Additional events both in Madison and around the state are being planned or considered by the JRMMA team. Stay tuned to the Madison NORML Examiner and allied sites below for more updates.
