President Obama delivers the 2014 State of the Union Address tonight. Today we look back on over 50 years of highlights. Notice certain words like "freedom" and "recession" have been used many times. In 1934 Franklin D. Roosevelt used the phrase "State of the Union." Prior to that time, this special speech was often referred to as "The President's Annual Message to Congress."
