Governor Mary Fallin, today, has declared a state of emergency for 20 counties in Oklahoma that have experienced earthquakes, tornadoes, severe storms and flooding since Saturday.
On Saturday night, a record-setting 5.6 magnitude quake struck near Sparks. This broke previously record of a 5.5 magnitude earthquake that occurred in 1952. Since Saturday, Oklahoma has experienced four earthquakes of magnitude 4 or above. Most of the damage took place in Lincoln County around the towns of Prague Sparks and Meeker.
Earlier this week, the state was hammered by severe weather including straight line damaging winds, hail, and as many as six tornadoes, including a high end EF2 in Tipton, OK.
Counties included in the declaration are: Caddo, Carter, Cleveland, Comanche, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Johnston, Kiowa, Le Flore, Lincoln, McCurtain, Murray, Okfuskee, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie, Pushmataha, Sequoyah, Tillman, and Washita.
