State lawmaker arrested after threatening to shoot Speaker elect, found with gun

While the majority of pro-gun congress people are Republicans, there are some Democrats who stand with them, and this time one has gone too far.

According to KNTV in Nevada, a Democratic lawmaker was arrested on Saturday for threatening to shoot the Speaker elect. State Assemblyman Steven Brooks had been upset about his recent assignments and Brooks took it out on Marilyn Kirkpatrick, the soon to be Speaker of the State House. After the former speaker failed to win re-election, the state Democratic party had been split with their support of Kirkpatrick. Brooks had allegedly been upset after being passed over the spot of chairman of the Assembly's Ways and Means Committee.

Brooks was arrested on January 19th with a gun in his possession on one count of intimidating a public officer by threat of physical violence and taken to the Las Vegas City Jail. Brendan Summers, the Executive Director of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, released a brief statement, but refused to go into further detail.

"We understand an investigation is currently ongoing and we have no further comment at this time."
