Terry Jones' Proud Eagle
Spotlight on: Terry Jones and Monica Winters
Mary Tomas Studio Gallery’s opening in conjunction with the Creative Arts Center tonight enjoyed a large turnout of art patrons and artists. Three artists from the State Fair of Texas’ sculpture show were accepted in the juried show.
When the storms hit tonight, one State Fair sculpture hopped over to Terry Jones’ Proud Glory Eagle and suggested all the sculptures attend the gallery opening albeit a bit late. Proud Glory told the sculpture it would take him all night ferrying the sculptures back and forth. Proud Glory’s friend replied, “Fly? Any eagle can fly. You’re Proud Glory. You can break into the automobile building and commandeer enough vans, SUV’s, etc., to get us all there.” Proud Glory frowned. “You could lead us driving a red corvette.” Proud Glory smiled.

Proud Glory swooped among the sculptures announcing, “Field Trip”. The Tattler Totems twittered. Monica Winter’s Independent Totem told the Tattlers, “Give it up for one night and let’s support our sculpture girls from the State Fair.” Proud Glory revved the engine, Independent Totem jumped in and the rest of the sculptures followed in their motor cars.
The sculptures perused the gallery while finishing the wine and hors d'oeuvres; and critiqued every piece. Before Proud Glory announced time to go back to the Fair, one totem suggested the two of them and Independent Totem go to Deep Ellum and hit the clubs. Proud Glory frowned. How many eagles can fly, drive a corvette and dance? Proud Glory smiled and revved the engine.
