Opening weekend of the State Fair of Texas is a sure sign that Fall is here. It rained opening weekend but that never stops record crowds each year from entering the gates to enjoy the best the Fair offers. Everyone enjoys the rides, games, crafts, auto show, celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, rides and other attractions. Oh yeah, and all the fried foods that your heart can take. This year the specialties are deep fried jambalaya and fried bacon cinnamon rolls. Get in line for your treats early because on opening day they ran out of the fried bacon cinnamon rolls before closing. This is a recipe for a great party!

What's a great party without music? The State Fair brings not only good fun and food but also good music. Here's a peek into who's taking the Chevrolet Main Stage throughout the duration of the Fair: The Commodores, Ruthie Foster and Elle Varner. On October 6, 2012 Elle Varner who sings the single "Only Wanna Give It To You", featuring J. Cole will be performing at 2 P.M. Later the same night Blues singer Ruthie Foster will be performing at 8:30 P.M. On October 20, 2012 the ever so popular funk-band The Commodores will be performing at 8:30 P.M. General admission into the State Fair is $16 (admission to concert included), coupons for food/rides .50 each and parking is $15. Make plans to take part in this Fall favorite by visiting the State Fair of Texas before the last day which is October 21, 2012. Other State Fair info can be found here.
