The following is a statement issued today by Caroline G. Moore regarding the State Center news I mentioned in my previous post.
-----------------------
We firmly believe that this frivolous suit ultimately will be dismissed. After five years of developing a plan with 9 surrounding neighborhoods, we will not be thwarted by an 11th hour attempt to vacate State Center and move those tenants to some other part of the City. The plaintiffs' efforts draw on fear that only one part of our downtown is worthy of investment while other areas should perish. We believe all areas of our city matter and that new development keeps Baltimore competitive, relevant and desirable.
We cannot be afraid to grow. The city needs projects like State Center and a vibrant central business district to succeed in attracting new people and businesses. The fundamental desire of the lawsuit is to rob Peter to pay Paul by shuffling workers from one part of town to another. This does nothing to improve Baltimore. The private investment in State Center is an investment in the City’s future.

Comments
What private investment, the State is sinking my tax dollars into a money pit. Not only that you have to rent the office space. The state has a 1.3 billion dollar deficit + 1.5 billion state center project = 2.8 billion that they will have to tax the people to make up. Can't go to the Highway Fund they have robbed that dry already and can't replace the money. So the next time you ride down the road and go into a large chuck hole you get vehicle damage, or you go to ride the transit system and the fare jump sky high thank you friendly legislators Annapolis.
