A report from The Washington Times says: "Deprived of food and medicine, many residents are starving and traumatized. Videos shared by activists show images of emaciated children."
The report alleges that Assad's forces have stepped up their campaign against Syrian rebels that has civilians caught in the middle and starving. In rebel-held parts of the country means Syrians are starving in the cities of Damascus, Ghouta, Muadhamiya and the Yarmouk camp for Palestinian refugees.
It said that the fatwa is an attempt to draw attention to the dire situation in Syria. It's a cry for help as the humanitarian crisis grows worse due to the two and a half year old civil war. A report from the BBC says it's been estimated, by the U.N., that more than 100,000 people have been killed since the start of the war.
Hundreds of the starving include innocent children who are suffering from malnutrition because of the war. Please pray for the people of Syria, who are desperate for relief.
