Starving dog allegedly used as revenge against ex found locked in NY bedroom (Photos)

UPDATE 2/25/13: Sharing from Grady Animal Hospital's Facebook page.

Queenie's bloodwork showed that she is in kidney failure. She is stable, but her condition paired with being a ten-year-old senior, severely compromises her longevity. HOWEVER, the knight in shining armor who works within rescue, and was the one who actually got her out of that hell, will be bringing her into his family and making whatever time she has left extremely joyful and special. We MUST remember, though, that behind every cloud is the potential for a big, beautiful rainbow, and we hope and pray that Queenie will have a rainbow behind her cloud, and not only survive, but far surpass the estimated time that she has left.

Smithtown, NY - Dragging pets into marital disputes and using them as revenge against your partner is unfair and extremely cruel. This is a pet that loves you both and should never be used as a pawn in nasty battles.

Queenie, a Cane Corso, experienced this form of payback firsthand from one of the people that she loved unconditionally and thought would always be there to protect her - not turn on her through no fault of her own.

Instead, a spiteful man trying to get back at his ex-wife allegedly left Queenie locked in a bedroom, suffering for weeks without food and water, to starve to death.

She was found by his ex-wife when she returned to pick up more of her belongings. Queenie was extremely emaciated and her nose was crusted over from severe dehydration. She managed to survive her horrendous, abusive ordeal, but was hanging on to life by a thread.

Guardians of Rescue's founder and president, Robert Misseri, was called about Queenie by Tuncay Adem of Canine Counsel. She was brought to Grady Animal Hospital in Sayville, NY by Guardians of Rescue for life-saving emergency care where she was put on fluids, had blood work done, and was offered small amounts of food and water frequently.

You can follow her progress on either Guardians of Rescue Facebook page here, or Grady Animal Hospital's Facebook page here, where they say she is eating this morning, and her doctor states that she actually got up to greet him.

Keep Queenie in your thoughts and prayers to find the strength to fully recover from the severe abuse and betrayal by someone she knew and loved.

Authorities were called and hopefully charges will be filed and an arrest will be made.
