On Wednesday afternoon, Grady Animal Hospital updated their Facebook followers on a dog named "Queenie," and her amazing rebound from near fatal starvation.
The update, in part, reads:
QUEENIE HAS GAINED TWENTY (20!) POUNDS SINCE SHE WAS RESCUED THIS PAST SATURDAY, FEBRUARY THE 23RD!!!! Man, I don't even know what to type next because it is SO entirely JAW-DROPPING
Not only has Queenie put on an amazing amount of weight in a short time, but her vast improvement is causing her care-providers to be cautiously optimistic about her recovery.
Posted on the Grady Animal Hospital's Facebook page Tuesday night was the following:
Good Evening! It's time for an AWESOME Queenie update! Miss Queenie has CONTINUED to improve so much so, that we are beginning to become cautiously optimistic... I was up at Grady a short while ago, and as soon as Queenie saw me, she "talked" a bit, got up and started wagging her tail, but this time, she had the strength to KEEP ON WAGGING IT!
Queenie's comeback is nothing short of incredible.
On Monday, the ten-year-old dog, who was allegedly locked away in a bedroom by a vengeful ex-husband, was diagnosed with kidney failure.
Queenie's blood work indicated that her prognosis for recovery was poor.
It seems, however, that the amazing care that she is receiving, coupled with the good wishes and prayers from strangers across the nation, are overriding what "should" be happening to her long-neglected body.
