StartupNation Leading Moms in Business announces competition for mompreneurs (Video)

Today, March 18, the Fifth Annual StartupNation Leading Moms in Business Competition announced that entries are now being accepted, offering mom-owned businesses a chance to win more than $10,000 in cash and prizes.

Sponsored by office superstore Staples, the winner of the competition will be awarded $10,000, a great amount to expand her business. The top three winners will also receive $1,000 to spend at Staples, a complimentary VIP business coaching session with StartupNation founders Jeff and Rich Sloan, and a complimentary workspace design consultation from Staples' business interiors division, according to a prepared statement issued today by StartupNation.

In addition to prizes, winners will also receive publicity. Many of the mompreneurs have been featured in MSN, Bizjournals, ABC News and other media outlets, shining a spotlight on these mom-owned businesses.

There are approximately 8.3 million women-owned businesses in the U.S., generating nearly $1.3 trillion in annual revenue.
