Whitney Houston, the acclaimed and accomplished superstar singer, has died at age 48, her publicist announced today. Her recent history is one of seeking to fulfill her gift of music with her personal struggles, which included drugs, emotional problems, and, for several years, what was thought to be an eating disorder.
Like several other celebrities, such as Demi Moore, Whitney's eating disorder appeared linked to her drug addiction and drug usage. "She was so startlingly thin during a 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert that rumors spread she had died the next day," noted Entertainment Weekly.
Other singers known to have suffered from eating disorders include Karen Carpenter and Katharine McPhee.
