Believe it or not, Valentine’s Day is in three short days. It’s time start thinking about how to celebrate this day of love. Whether you are wooing someone for the first time or just want to thank that someone special for a lifetime of love and happiness, the next several articles will offer tips, ideas and menu suggestions to make the day memorable.
With the cold snap that has hit Broken Arrow and the rest of Oklahoma in the last day or so, escape with this delicious, fruity cocktail from warm and sunny Phoenix, Arizona. This recipe was provided by the District American Kitchen and Wine Bar, located in the beautiful Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.
To make strawberry puree, puree a few fresh or frozen strawberries in a blender or food processor with just a teaspoon or two of water, if needed. Once the mixture is strained, it is ready to use. In a pinch, try substituting one tablespoon of strawberry jam or preserves.
Find heart shaped gummy candies at Reasor’s, as well as beautiful bouquets, candy and all of the other necessary ingredients for a fantastic Valentine’s Day.
All American Sweetheart
- 2 1/2 ounces vodka
- 11/2 ounces peach schnapps
- 1 ounce orange juice
- 1 ounce strawberry puree
- Ice
- Heart-shape gummy candy (can be purchased)
Directions
- Mix all ingredients with ice in a shaker.
- Shake.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with a heart-shape gummy candy.
Makes 1 martini
