Both teams take the ice for their second game in as many days.
Both teams take the ice for their second game in as many days.

For the second night in a row the Texas Stars came away with a solid victory against the visiting Abbotsford Heat winning Saturday's game 4-2 at the Cedar Park Center.  6200 fans turned out for a game that felt like it could turn into a rumble at any moment following all the turmoil in Friday night's game.  But with a number of NHL scouts on hand the players held their tempers in check and the 2 sides focused their energies on playing good hockey.

The Stars got the early lead in the first period when center Travis Morin got the puck to Greg Rallo sitting in front of the net who poked it past Heat goalie Matt Keetley for the score.

The Stars went up 2-0 in the second period when defenseman Maxime Fortunus ripped a slap shot from the point that went sailing by Keetley for his 9th goal of the season.

The Heat came back with a goal by Cam Cunning at 17:05 and tied the game shortly after that with a short-handed goal by RW David Van der Gulik as he was able to grab a rebound on a shot by Heat center Brett Sutter to make the score 2-2 going into the final intermission.

Both teams came out skating hard in the 3rd, then at 10:59 Texas finally beat Keetley when Francis Wathier deflected a shot by Ivan Vishnevskiy to make the score 3-2.  It only took the Stars 38 seconds to score again when LW Scott McCulloch skated the puck across the front of the goal and was able to wrist it past Keetley to make it 4-2.

The Stars are on the road again this week but return home for 2 matches against the Peoria Rivermen on Friday and Saturday nights.
