The Texas Stars didn't just want to win the game on Saturday night against the Peoria Rivermen, they wanted to make a statement.  It's time we showed you who the better team is as they shut the Rivermen out by a score of 5-0 at the Cedar Park Arena.

The Stars have had some difficulty with the Rivermen this season losing 3 out of the first 4 games they've played.  They also had more than just a hockey game to settle as tempers seemed to flare throughout the game with a fight breaking out immediately after the first puck was dropped.  Stars' Francis Wathier and the Rivermen's Ryan Reaves both got 5 minutes for fighting and were still exchanging words as they left the ice at the end of the game.

After allowing 3 first period goals on Friday night and getting pulled from the game, Stars goalie Matt Climie had a statement of his own to make stopping all 41 shots he faced getting his 3rd shutout of the season and earning the 1st star of the game.  Right wing Mathieu Beaudoin got the second star of the game with 3 points on his 12th goal of the season along with 2 assists and center Travis Morin with his 13th goal of the season got the 3rd star of the game.

The first place Stars are home for 3 games this week facing the Grand Rapids Griffins on Tuesday and the Chicago Wolves come to town for 2 games this weekend at the Cedar Park Arena.
