Stars rookie Alex Chiasson, who has an extremely bright future, scored the first two Stars goals in the contest including the game winning marker at 11:11 of the second period from veteran Ray Whitney. Chiasson, a native of Montreal, Quebec has got off to an electric start in his National Hockey League. Last season he had six goals and one assist in seven games, and so far this season he has notched five goals and four assists for nine points in nine regular season games while playing with Whitney and Jamie Benn.
With the loss, the Flames drop to 4-4-2 on the season after going 1-4 on their five game road trip through the state of California, Arizona and Texas.
Flames center Matt Stajan played in the game after missing the last eight contests with a leg injury. He notched an assist on the Flames' lone goal from Lee Stempniak. It was a tough game for Jiri Hudler however who saw his nine game point streak snapped, and going -2 in the process.
The Flames next play the Washington Capitals Wednesday evening at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
