The First Lady had hugs for everyone when she greeted the young stars on stage as they whipped up some quick and healthy recipes together. Chef Marc Murphy was also on hand to talk about cooking with plenty of fruits and vegetables. In fact, the table was chock full of greens, yummy fresh fruit and healthy olive oil.

20-year-old Debby Ryan was the picture of spring time in a flowery dress for the occasion. She made a healthy salad that looked really good. They mixed up some green lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta, olives, parsley, and salt and pepper. Then they mixed in some olive oil and balsamic vinegar as a light dressing. The First Lady explained that you should be coating the vegetables rather than swimming in it.

Skai Jackson, who plays the role of Zuri on “Jessie,” showed the First Lady and Chef Marc her favorite fruit salad made with honey. Mrs. Obama also explained that the White House is doing their part to help with the pollination process by keeping a few bee hives on the property. Without bees, there would be no honey to enjoy. They all enjoyed the good-for-you fruit salad. Karan Brar admitted that he just loves food, so he is kind of an expert.

Their co-stars, Peyton List and Cameron Boyce, also went on stage to help make a kale smoothie. The concoction was made up of kale, carrots, apples, strawberries, and a few other goodies. The First Lady explained how adding a bunch of fruit will override the taste of the kale and is so healthy for you. The young actors also raved about a peanut butter, almond milk and banana smoothie that they both love. Boyce and List said that it is their favorite and is made on the set quite a bit.

This was a fun event just for kids to learn about eating healthier and to be able to see their favorite Disney stars. You can view the whole segment on the official White House site.

Michelle Obama will also be making a guest appearance on “Jessie” in an upcoming episode that raises awareness on the sacrifice of military families and the needs that they may have. The episode is called “From the White House to our House” and will premiere on May 16 at 8 p.m. EST on the Disney Channel.
