For the ninth year in a row, Fox Sports Southwest took home an EMMY®. This time, the award was for the 2010 Dallas Stars home opener against the Detroit Red Wings.
The home opener against the Wings was the first time Stars fans got to see Mike Modano as something other than a Dallas Star. This time, he had donned the dreaded red for one last season of hockey and the Stars fans attended in record numbers to both see him live and on TV.
Congratulations go to Producer Jason Walsh and director Mark Vittorio who revealed the Stars past, present, and future with Mike Modano, a wonderfully memorable story that brought tears to many loyal Stars fans.
This wasn't the only time Fox Sports Southwest won an EMMY® for reporting on a Stars game. Game 6 of the 2008 NHL Western Conference Semifinal series quadruple overtime victory over the San Jose Sharks, and Game 5 of the 2003 Stars-Edmonton Oilers Western Conference quarterfinals were the previous two.
Over 1,200 entries were submitted this year to the Lone Star Chapter of the National Television Academy.
“I’m extremely proud of our talented staff for the high-quality of work we consistently achieve to create the best sports television,” said FOX Sports Southwest Senior Executive Producer Mike Anastassiou. “Being recognized by our peers is validation of our excellent work in front of the camera and behind the scenes.”
