San Diego Yoga Education Society is having a nice beneath the stars at Balboa Park on January 12th at 5-8pm at the Pan American building. The Yoga Education Society (Y.E.S) was founded by local San Diego yoga teachers in 1999, about the time that Yoga Alliance was formed. The local yoga teachers wanted to way to connect with other yoga teachers and to build their practice by having teacher trainers offer continuing education classes. It's hard to believe that yoga was a fledgling practice, at that time, and staying connected was difficult. Friendship and professional enhancement have long been the goals of Y.E.S.
In the recent decade, with the explosion of yoga, you'd guess that the Y.E.S. mission would be brimming with new yoga teachers and long-time practitioners wanting to improve their yoga practice. But the Y.E.S. has had many of the same issues that all-volunteer organizations find themselves dealing with: the same small number of volunteers doing service.
So a group of organizers have put together a Starry Nights for all yoga teachers and serious practitioners. A night of India food for the stomach and wise words of the yogic journey by Bhava Ram.
Bhava Ram, is a beloved yoga teacher and founder of Ginseng Yoga in South/North Park. His journey to yoga was through a touch with death and cancer, which lead him to the healing aspects of yoga always infused in his teaching.
Y.E.S. is offering an enticing membership special for new members, if you pay the entrance fee, you will also receive a year's membership to Y.E.S. As a member of the Board of Director's, this author encourages serious yoga students to come out join their yoga teachers for a special night.
See you there.
