NASCAR Camping Woirld Truck Series team, SS Green Light Racing, recently announced that David Starr has returned to the seat of its No. 81 Toyota for the 2013 season. Starr previously raced for SS Green Light at the end of the 2010 season and in 2011.
"I'm really excited to be back with SS Green Light Racing," Starr said. "It's my 16th year in the Camping World Truck Series, and back in 2011, we had a good year and some great runs with lots of top-10s and I'm looking to build on that and pick up where we left off. It's going to be tougher than ever with the competition this season, but with the experience that Bryan Berry and I have, I think we are going to be very competitive and have a great year."
Berry will be Starr's crew chief atop the No. 81 pit box this season. Engines will come from Pro Motor Racing Engines.
"David and Bryan will be one of the most experienced driver/crew chief tandems in all of NASCAR racing," SS Green Light co-owner Bobby Dotter said. "Their combined experience of over 500 NASCAR races will give the No. 81 a great baseline when we arrive at the track each week. We had 11 top-10 runs with David when he was here for the last few races of 2010 and the 2011 season. I believe we can be competitive and have many strong runs this season."
Starr is one of only four drivers with more than 300 starts in the Camping World Truck Series with 307. His career stats include four race wins, 47 top-fives and 106 top-10 finishes.
The 2013 season gets underway Friday with the Nextera Energy 250 at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. The race is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET with live television coverage on SPEED Channel starting with pre-race coverage beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
