The next time Seattle Sounders FC take the pitch at the main field (stadium) at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila they will do so on a brand new "DuraSpine Pro" surface by Field Turf (see informational video below).
Over the last few weeks the new surface has been going in. Starfire created a page to show a full set of photos from the installation. The grand reopening of the stadium is Friday, June 25th, at 11:00 AM. An 11:30 World Cup match will be shown on the stadium's big screen.
If the Sounders advance in the United States Open Cup next week in Portland then they will host their next round match at Starfire on July 6 or 7 against either AC St. Louis or the LA Galaxy.

pretty good video - but I was laughing during it because of the narrator's overly dramatic speech.
Sell that turf, NFL-style or Movie Trailer style! ;)
There will never be a replacement for natural grass. Ever. Even as convincing as the voice of the guy in the video sounds.
You may not be aware that the Women Sounders were not informed that this was happening and have lost money because they can't charge admission for the practice they have had to use. Anyone can walk up and watch free. These ladies could use a little help. Where's the love.
MJ, I had not heard that. Bad form on the part of Starfire and the Sounders, then. :( The Women deserve some sort of refund / compensation for having to switch to a nearby field with portable bleachers.
