The industry’s most celebrated RTS is planning to go out with a bang before its successor takes the forefront in the pro gaming circuit.
UK’s leading video game retailer, GAME has announced a partnering with game tech provider, Razer and global service provider, Multiplay to launch a farewell tournament for StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in observance of the impending release of Heart of the Swarm. Many will play, only one will win.
“Our community events program has rocketed out of the gates already in 2013, bringing gamers all around the UK exclusive and unique chances to get closer to the games they love,” said Anna-Marie Mason, director of marketing at GAME retail. “Whether in a friendly or fearsome spirit, competition is part of gaming DNA - and we’re excited to be teaming up with Multiplay and Razer to give the UK StarCraft and gaming communities an opportunity to test their skills and to support E-Sports in the UK.”
The tournament will run for two weeks before two finalists face off on the 11th of March in London at Barcraft’s SC2HOS’s launch event, for the showdown finale. This match will be broadcasted in front of a live crowd along side Blizzard’s official live stream.
Top finalists, not limited to the final two competitors, will win prizes ranging from GAME reward points, games and other video game swag. Additionally, players will be eligible for sportsmanship prizes and plays of the tourney. Spectators can check out GAME’s facebook page and twitch channel to view all the action.
