Supposedly it doesn't taste like coffee and its not green - it's made with a powdered extract made from unroasted green coffee according to the International coffee chain.
Starbucks is hoping to lure customers in with the new low calorie, low caffeine drink that will be offered in two flavors: cool lime and very berry hibiscus.
The new drink was created to keep up with rivals such as McDonald's, who have been stepping up their fancy 'McCafe' beverage line with coffee Frappes and their latest venture, fruit smoothies.
The latest in the Starbucks line-up is yet another effort to keep people coming through the doors. The restructuring of the coffee giant is apparently working. Starbucks announced in July that its third-quarter profits went up 37 percent.
Testing of the new Starbucks Refreshers kicked off in the San Diego area on August 4, with prices for the latest in the Starbucks cold drink line ranging from $2.50 to $2.95. If the test is a hit with customers, the beverage may be offered in more Starbucks locations across the nation.
You can't get a Starbucks Refresher here in RI yet, but you can stop in for free WiFi and a cold Tazo Passion Tea Lemonade, a Frappuccino or an iced coffee.

I tried the Cool Lime Refresher yesterday and I am pleasantly surprised. It's a great summer drink and it's really good! There's no weird taste, just very refreshing and light. I hope this does well and Starbucks keeps it as a permanent drink.
agreed!
I REALLY don't like the taste of coffee, so was really skeptical when the worker said it was made from coffee beans but didn't taste like coffee. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm interested to see how many calories are in a regular sized serving. If it's super low, I'd be glad to order one.
