On October 24, 2013, believed to be the largest coffee house in the world, Starbucks breaks tradition and chooses to offer a sip of something else – tea. Starbucks opened a tea shop, Teavana, in New York.
Starbucks acquired Teavana Holdings, Inc., for a reported $620 million, in December 2012. Starbucks had over 20,000 stores worldwide before acquiring the tea houses of Teavana.
The new Starbucks Teavana site offers drinks made with rare and specialty tea, small dishes and pastries. Consumers are encouraged to blend the flavors to create their own cherished flavors. Traditional stores serve hot and cold beverages, whole-bean coffee, microground instant coffee, full-leaf teas, pastries, snacks and packaged foods.
Consumers who choose to walk into the Teavana tea house, instead of its parent company Starbuck coffee house, will enjoy the ambience of a modern day café, affectionately labeled as a tea bar.
But guess what the new Starbucks Teavana store doesn’t offer? You guessed it… you won’t find any coffee at the Starbucks Teavana – New York location.
Can’t find yourself in New York? Visit the online Teavana store for your tea fix. Some tea purchases even offer free samples.
