In my neck of LA, the billboards advertising McDonald’s coffee drinks are everywhere. It’s obvious McDonald’s is aggressively targeting a greater portion of the coffee-drinking population.
Recently, the Coffee Review conducted a taste test, consisting of four different coffee beverages at both McDonald’s and Starbucks. The Coffee Review has 12 years experience with coffee tasting and reviewing. Its editor, Kenneth Davids, has written three books on gourmet coffee.
The Starbucks cappuccino was judged to be only slightly better, as was the caffe latte. So, if you like these drinks and don’t have a very discerning palate, you may as well save a little money and get some of those crispy-on-the-outside, soft-and-tender-on-the-inside, hash browns at McDonald’s. However, if you prefer café mochas or caramel lattes, Davids pronounced Starbucks to be dramatically superior.
