According to NME on Jan. 5, there is reportedly going to be a spinoff stand-alone "Star Wars" film starring Boba Fett. It will likely to run along the J.J. Abrams "Star Wars 7" movie and seemingly in pre-production. It is to be written by Lawrence Kasdan who was the previous writer for the original last two "Star Wars" films.

Kasdan is going to follow through with the stand alone film and intends to see it through. He said he wants to "start fresh"" with the franchise by launching a solo character film outside of J.J. Abrams' trilogy. He also said he'd be working with screenwriter Simon Kinberg for Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days of Future Past" film as well.

"The ones I worked on were a long time ago, and they had a slightly different feeling than the ones that followed. The first three, Star Wars, Empire and Return of the Jedi, are all sort of more about people than the ones that followed".

Apparently, there will be two separate entities for a couple of solo films, the one with Boba Fett will occur in the time period between "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" and "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" or "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back" and "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi".

The solo film starring Han Solo, should take place between "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope".

Some may have recalled in one of the "Star Wars" prequels where Boba Fett was a child that had witnessed the decapitation of his father who wore a similar Mandalorin armors.
