Adam Driver may be headed to space.

Sources have confirmed that Driver is nearing on closing a deal to play a villain in J.J. Abram’s take on Disney's Star Wars: Episode VII.

The exclusive news reported by Variety and The Hollywood Reporter say that the Girls star is the first cast member to be revealed for Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars series.

Casting surrounding the project has been kept under wraps until today’s announcement of Driver’s involvement.

Although Driver has not officially signed on for the villainous role, other names who have read for the role includes Michael Fassbender, Joel Kinnaman, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

THR reports that most of the major casting for the film is believed to have been completed.

Driver is best known for his role as Lena Dunham’s onscreen eccentric boyfriend Adam on HBO’s series Girls. He has branched out into the big screen as well, taking smaller roles in films such as Inside Llewyn Davis, Frances Ha, and Lincoln.

Star Wars: Episode VII is slated to open December 18, 2015.
