Superheroes will be all over Alley Theater when the theatre presents the returning Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less and Serial to Stage: Chapter 1 this month.
Serial to Stage: Chapter 1 is the first of multiple episodes featuring classic superheroes Flash Gordon and Commando Cody. Flash Gordon, in his adventure, must defeat the Emperor Ming, who is attempting to crash his planet into planet Earth. Meanwhile, Commando Cody must defeat everything from robots to hydrogen bombs to runaway trains to Martian invaders in order to also save the Earth.
Serial to Stage: Chapter 1 will take place on Jan. 18, 25, and Feb. 8 at 10 p.m. each night. Check later in the season for continuing chapters of Serial to Stage.
Meanwhile, Star Wars for those with short attention spans will return to the stage after a successful 2012 run. Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less features a hyperactive, satirical, funny, and, of course, fast-paced version of all three of the original Star Wars movies. The cast features Scott Goodman (who also created the production), Chris Petty (who directed), April Singer, JP Lebangood, and Tony Smith.
Star Wars in 60 Minutes or Less will take place only two more times: on Jan. 19 and 26 at 10 p.m.
Performances of both shows are to happen in the Clint Vaught Experimental Theatre at Alley Theater, located at 1210 Franklin Street in Louisville. Tickets for each show is $10 per person and purchasing in advance is highly recommended. This can be done by going to the Alley Theater website.
