'Star Wars: Episode VII': The cast is strong with this one

A not terribly long time ago in a galaxy pretty close to home, the “Star Wars: Episode VIIcast list made the jump to Hyperspace. The forthcoming film presents a new era for the long running franchise. Most likely, viewers stumbling out of cinemas after “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi” didn’t expect the prequel trilogy. Had they predicted that unspeakable monstrosity, they’d likely have burst into tears instantly.

Luckily, “Episode VII” offers a new hope, as headliners Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher will resume their oft-recognized roles as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia. Further excitement stems from Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels and Peter Mayhew returning to play R2-D2, C-3PO and Chewbacca. Newcomers include Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, John Boyega, Max von Sydow, and Oscar Isaac. Thankfully, certain characters weren’t mentioned (hint: meesa ruin movie), and with the original cast reprising their parts, “Episode VII” may very well redeem the series.

To say the “Star Wars” prequel trilogy wasn’t well received would be a severe understatement. Considering the roots of the sci-fi franchise, and the classic status of the original trilogy, the 2015 continuation has quite a precedent to meet. Reuniting Luke, Han, Leia, and their faithful companions R2-D2, C-3PO, and Chewbacca suggests that “Episode VII” won’t be the snoozefest the prequels were. However, let’s take a moment to remember that fourth “Indiana Jones” flick. Granted, Shia LaBeouf doesn’t appear on the cast list, but he wasn’t in that fridge scene either.
