Confirming the worst-kept secret in the universe, Lucasfilm, Disney and J.J. Abrams officially announced on April 29th that Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are reprising their original “Star Wars” roles in the upcoming seventh episode of the movie series. Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker and Peter Mayhew, the humans behind C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca, will also be on board. The Daily News, E! and other outlets are all confirming what is now visible to the casual visitor to IMDb.com.

Joining the cast are Oscar Isaac, who though deprived of a well-deserved Oscar nod for “Inside Llewyn Davis, will shortly become a household name, along with Adam Driver (“Girls”), John Boyega ("Attack the Block") , Daisy Ridley, ("Blue Season") and Domhnall Gleeson ("About Time").

Legendary thespian Max von Sydow, whose credits range from Ingmar Bergman’s “The Seventh Seal” and “Wild Strawberries” to “The Greatest Story Ever Told,” “The Exorcist,” “Three Days of the Condor,” “Flash Gordon,” “Footloose,” “Conan the Barbarian,” Woody Allen’s “Hannah and Her Sisters,” Steven Spielberg’s “Minority Report,” Julian Schnabel’s “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” and a voice performance on “The Simpsons,” also will join the cast.

Motion capture specialist Andy Serkis, best-known as Gollum in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” movies, has also been cast.

What roles the newcomers will be playing has not been announced. Carrie Fisher is being billed in the role of “Leia Solo.”

John Williams is expected to compose the score. Daniel Mindel, director of photography on Abrams’ “Star Trek” and “Star Trek Into Darkness” will also lens “Star Wars: Episode VII.” The movie will be shot on film, at least partly in the IMAX format.
