George Lucas and Mellody Hobson have announced they are engaged. Us Weekly has learned on Jan. 4, that Lucas and Hobson shared the news on Jan. 3 that their engagement was official.
George and Mellody have been dating for six years since 2006 when they met at a business conference. This will be the first marriage for Mellody and the second marriage for George.
Lucas was previously married to film editor Marcia Lou Griffin in 1969. The couple adopted one child, Amanda, before they divorced in 1983. Lucas went on to adopt two other children, Katie and Jett, after his divorce from Griffin.
George Lucas is a “Star Wars” director and recently sold his film production company, Lucasfilm Ltd., to the Walt Disney Company for a reasonable sum. Mellody Hobson is a DreamWorks animation chair and is also a contributor to “Good Morning America’s” financial segments. The couple has not yet to released a wedding date.
