Star Wars, created by George Lucas, has spun into a galaxy all of its own, and taken the world by force, (pun intended) forming a celebration that has become the biggest phenomenon in pop culture ever, according to a report in the International Business Times on May 3. The fourth of May was chosen as the unofficial ‘Star Wars Day’ holiday date because, May the fourth sounds strikingly close to the series popular phrase, “May the Force be with you” which Star Wars fans have now adapted to, “May the fourth be with you.”

This May 4, will find fans all over the world celebrating the iconic films culture by immersing themselves in full makeup and costumes, movie marathons, fan events, and sometimes a language all of their own.

This year’s Star Wars Day celebration also has an extra special buzz in the air, since the Star Wars team has just announced the cast for the new, upcoming installment of Star Wars: Episode VII, which includes original Star Wars casts members, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker. Shooting begins in a couple of months and the movie is scheduled to open worldwide on December 18 2015.

Amazon is now joining in on the celebration with their Star Wars: Complete Saga and Star Wars Trilogy specials.

Disney, who purchased Lucasfilm in 2012, is now the proud owner of the “Star Wars” brand, and will be joining in the celebration festivities with events and surprises for the whole family. This year Disney Parks around the world, and Disney Stores nationwide, will bring the Force to you with fun in-store promotions, activities and giveaways. You will also discover the Jedi Mind Trick, experience the interactive Media Wall, as you help Luke Skywalker destroy the Death Star, and even participate in a Medal of Bravery Ceremony.

If you are one of the lucky first 100 guests to visit your local Disney store, you will receive a free Limited Edition Star Wars pin. To find a Disney Store near you, visit the Disney Store locator by clicking here.

There is still one burning unanswered question that still remains…What will Princess Leia’s hair look like today? Carrie Fisher’s answer in a recent interview with the Express News replied, “I’d like to wear my old [cinnamon buns] hairstyle again – but with white hair. I think that would be funny.” Sounds good, but for now we will just have to wait and see.
