Star Wars and the Plinkett Reviews

Any fan of the Star Wars franchise, or even a movie buff has undoubtedly seen the RedLetterMedia reviews of the prequel trilogy.  If you haven’t, here’s the low down:

The video series first aired on YouTube, where the narrator who goes by the name Harry S. Plinkett, and picks movies from the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises apart piece by piece. 

Plinkett gained most of his popularity from the Star Wars franchise, starting with the forth film in the series - “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.”  In the seven videos, Plinkett dissects the film’s plot, characterization, dialog, cinematography, etc, all while presenting the information in an entertaining albeit interesting manner. 

For example, the reviewer poses the question to six assumingly random people, “Describe X character to someone as if they had never seen the movies” without describing what they look like or their role in the movie.  The people answering were able to describe characters such as Han Solo and C-3PO.  However they were unable to describe Padmé Amidala or even Qui Gon Jinn – characters whose entire presence was absolutely vital to the plot.

All in all, the reviews are very entertaining and point out more than plot holes and movie goofs.  They go in to detail as to why a certain film has succeeded or failed.  If you haven’t checked the reviews out yet, what are you waiting for?
